On a 620 Nm flight the following FIR's were crossed with ATC Radar Services available all the way:
Belgium, Netherlands, Langen, Munich, Vienna and Budapest.
Fuel burned on 14 Hrs Flight time 220 Liters Altitudes flown from 1000 Ft till 10400Ft.
Longest stretch was 4Hr20 with a headwind from EBWE to LOLS in one go! On the return flight thermals gave us a free lift to 8000Ft only possible with a Motorglider.
A Taifun feels quite happy at hi-altitude, for the experts note the trottle setting and the manifold pressure in the movie at 10000 Ft...

The Swedish Eskilstuna Flygklubb located at Ekeby airfield is the home base of one of the most remarkable Taifun motorgliders in the world; we're talking about SE-UCA, a Taifun 17E II. It's a unique motorglider, since it's the only Taifun in the world capable of towing another glider !
To make all of this possible, the usual 90 hp Limbach engine has been replaced with a 115 hp watercooled Rotax engine.
To most of us pilots Sweden is a bit far to go and watch SE-UCA, but thanks to its owners (Daniel Pettersson, Inger Westling, Pekka Havbrandt, Sakari Havbrandt and Tomas Hammarbäck) we are able to watch this special Taifun on youtube.
