As you might
have noticed in the upper left corner of the website there’s a picture
of a white-headed eagle with the text “Diamond Air”.
I used this picture as a logo for this website, but actually it's an airbrush painting situated on the tail of my Taifun 17E II. You could say that this logo represents my "international" character. The eagle has been my favourite bird ever since I worked in Canada in the seventies. I worked there on a pipe-line in the North West Territories with the Great Canadian Oilsand Co. As my last-name is Dumont, a common name in the South of the Netherlands were I live, though a French sounding word, literally meaning "from the mountain", there's a mountain visibly airbrushed in the background. And to cross another border, my flyer is stationned at Geilenkirchen, a NATO-base in Germany. This "Dumont", when pronounced sounds a bit like “Diamond”, so I chose this name for my plane. No need to say that the word “diamond” also represents the best of all powerglidertypes in the world, the Valentin Taifun 17 E and E II. |
