Along the Belgian coast we passed by Zeebrugge harbour.
For the last decades this Northsea harbour has been part of the top ten fastest expanding harbours on the Hamburg - Le Havre route.
Zeebrugge also is one of the largest European natural gas terminals and at the same time an important harbour for liquid gas import. In addition, the largest number of new cars is reloaded here worldwide (2003 more than 1.5 Mil. vehicles).
The SeaRo, Wallenius-Wilhelmsen Lines, CTO, Toyota and CdMZ Terminals together have a capacity of 100.000 cars each day.
Public attention was drawn to Zeebrugge when the roll on roll off ferry Herald of Free the Enterprise sank on March 6th 1987, leading 188 people into death.
