Portsmouth and
its Spinnaker-tower.
The tower, opened for the public in October 2005, is with a height of 170
meters the highest accessible tower in the United Kingdom. It is visible with
good views from the sea already up to 37 kilometers (23 miles) before Portsmouth.
The
design is symbolised by two large white steel arcs and one spinning field-sail
arched by the wind. On top there's a triple observation deck with a 320-degree
view on the town of Portsmouth as well as the Langstone and Portsmouth harbours.
Especially Henk was moved very much by seeing the harbour with the Spinnaker
tower from the air, because he visited the harbour by a sail boat one year
ago and watched the finish of the Global
Challenge.
