Taifun engines by Limbach

Besides a word from Henk, here you'll find some technical info and datasheets on 3 engines often found in Taifun motorgliders:

Henk Dumont:
"My Valentin Taifun 17 E II motorglider is equipped with an L-2400EB engine made by the German Limbach Company. This engine, already present when I bought my plane, really gives satisfactory performances. Of course it would also be possible to build in the more powerful L-2400DFi/EFi engine, but this is not within reach of my pocket. Since I myself am the (sole) owner of D-KFDI I really got to know all ins and outs on my motorglider and its engine during the past years. Being the only pilot on this airplane gives a lot of advantages to someone who is a three or four co-owner partnership.

Although the 2400EB is 13 hp behind of the 2400DFi/EFi (87 against 100 hp) I can make up a large deal of the arrears because, having made so many hours on my Taifun (about 1100 hrs since I bought it), I learned to feel the limits of the engine's capabilities.
This way I can gain some performance, e.g. a short or difficult runway, that allows me to make maximum use of my engine. So actually, except from extreme conditions like high altitudes, I don't even want to switch the 2400EB for the 2400DFi/EFi.
Compared to other motorgliders, a Taifun 17 E II is quite heavy, but I'm very pleased with my current Limbach 2400EB engine."
